Pretty cool, however, as a roofer, The pic of the roof is pretty shocking. recycling old shingles pretty much guarantees leaks within 5 yrs, and just the way they are applied is sloppy and prone to leaks

Some of these pics, including the first one of the tree house, is where I lived once. The one with the picture frame samples ceiling was the ceramics studio I rented from Dan right across from the treehouse. I loved living there, and Dan is a great guy.
It’s cool to see him get coverage and credit.
And yes, the buildings and houses are all in Huntsville, Tx, where I lived while attending Sam Houston State University.

We as a society are so materialistic, and have to have the best of everything ,that we miss the natural beauty and simplisity in everyday items. Wouldn’t your home, your space mean more to you if it came from your own mind and hands? These people get it ! Their house’s do not have to look like they just came out of an Ikea catalog. Yet what they did with found, recycled items is gorgeous. Many of the items they used would have ended up in a land fill, (which by the way we are running out of space to bury our junk) These homes are pieces of art and will last for generations to come. I don’t know about you all, but I’m inspired!!

Someone had asked where the houses pictured are located, they are in Huntsville, TX. The man that builds them is named Dan Phillips. Some are rented to low income families. Others are specifically designed for various types of artists containing a room specifically for a form of art. When I lived in Huntsville I was lucky enough to visit a few of the houses and they are very detailed and creative. The pictures do not do them justice.

WOW,,,this shows that where there is a will and a little thought there is a use for most everything in this world and you guys have took things that most throw away and made a wonderful and lovely home and the best part to me is,,it a one of a kind…
Great job and also a great set of minds to try and see new ways to build and to try new ways and new looks,,just awesome…
